Check a photo before you share it.
Photos and screenshots can carry more than you meant to share: the exact spot you took them, a cropped-out house number, a Wi-Fi password on the fridge. Unpinned shows you what is there in plain words, then makes a safer copy. Your photo never leaves this device.

What Unpinned looks for
Hidden in the file
Left out of your safer copy automatically.
- The exact spot where you took it, and place names
- The date, time, and time zone
- Your phone or camera, and serial numbers
- Hidden previews that can still show what you cropped out
- Video clips attached to motion photos
- Leftover data from before a crop (the “aCropalypse” bug)
- Names, captions, and editing history with user names
Visible in the picture
You choose what to cover with a solid box.
- Addresses on mail, labels, and screenshots
- Card, bank account, and Social Security numbers
- Phone numbers, email addresses, and names
- Booking, order, and account numbers
- QR codes and barcodes: Wi-Fi passwords, boarding passes, two-step login setup codes, and locations
How it works
-
Add a photo
It opens in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, and you don't need an account.
-
See what it gives away
Each finding says what it is and why it matters. Card and ID numbers are partly hidden on screen.
-
Share a safer copy
Hidden details are left out, and what you pick is covered with a solid box. Then the copy is checked again to show the details are gone.
Your photo stays with you
- No uploads, no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no cookies.
- Text and barcode reading run inside your browser. The reading engine and its language data come from this site, not from another company.
- Once you've checked a photo, it works without an internet connection. You can add it to your home screen, too.
- You can check: the page's security policy only allows it to connect back to this site to load its own files. Your browser's developer tools will show every request it makes.
What it can't do
- It can't recognize faces, house numbers on buildings, street signs, landmarks, license plates, or what is in reflections and on screens. Draw your own covers over those.
- The text reader works in English, and it can miss small, blurry, angled, or handwritten text.
- It can't take back a photo, or the details in it, once it has been shared.
- A clean copy can still be recognized by someone who knows the place, or matched with a reverse image search.
- It is a privacy tool, not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.
